On Nov. 10 at 10:45 a.m., St. Marys High School hosted the Veterans Day assembly to honor local veterans. The assembly started with a welcoming speech by Mrs. Barnhart, followed by opening remarks by Mrs. Corrigan and Hannah Dutton. Maddie Smith led The Pledge of Allegiance followed by The Star-Spangled Banner sung by McKenna Broce. Next a poem was read by Makinsey Jeffers and another by Elissa Wince. All in attendance sand “Still a Soldier,” introduced by Brooklyn Davis.
Two quotes were read by Kennedy Harper and Lily Wiley. A poem was read by Kendall McGee. Next the band played Patriotic Spectacular. All guests and spouses were introduced and given a small gift by Mrs. Corrigan and the following students: Sophia Perkins, Olivia Kimball, Morgan Bardwell and Addy Wilson. All in attendance stood and sang “Proud to be an American.” The closing remarks were done by Addy Cummings. The students lined the hallways to send off the veterans, and they enjoyed lunch in the commons.
