The St. Marys Blue Devils endured a challenging two-game stretch on the road, falling to Magnolia and Tyler Consolidated in back-to-back games. On Monday, April 13th, Magnolia held off St. Marys in a 6-2 victory. The Blue Eagles started off strong, scoring three runs in the first inning and added a couple extras in the fourth and sixth. For the Blue Devils, juniors Cayden Barnard and Jeremiah DeMoss both had multiple hits to try and help St. Marys offensively. Jeremiah DeMoss and Casey Burkhammer both had an RBI, while Liam Davis and Shane DeWeese crossed the plate. Kyle Bullman also added a stolen base for the Blue Devils. On the mound, Jeremiah DeMoss struggled, allowing four runs in only two innings of work, but Ayden Powell came in as a good relief pitching 2 scoreless innings.
The following day, Tuesday, April 14th, the Blue Devils were shut out by the Silver Knights 3-0. The game was dominated by a pitcher’s duel with limited hits by both teams. Cayden Barnard delivered a strong performance on the mound, striking out 9 batters over 6 innings. In the batter’s box, Jeremiah DeMoss, Cayden Barnard, and Ayden Powell each recorded hits for St. Marys, while Kyle Bullman once again recorded some stolen bases.
After the two losses, the St. Marys Blue Devils stand at a 6-8 record on the season.
