On November 21, 2025, the students and staff of SMHS had participated in their annual Community Service Day to help out both the school and the St. Marys community. There was a split in groups to where they either went out around town to help out some other locations, or they stayed at the school. The list of in-school groups had helped decorate the bulletin boards for Christmas as well as the Christmas trees, cleaned the bleachers and cafeteria, helped with outdoor projects, worked in the ag garage, and had made elementary cards.
Off campus locations included: First Baptist Church, Neighborhood Network, Pleasants County Humane Society, SMES, Pleasants County Park, The Heritage, The Family Support Center, Belmont City Building and the City of St. Marys. A group also focused on getting cancer care bags, the hygiene drive, the elementary gifts and the veteran cards ready and out. The school has definitely helped the community stay clean, beautiful and has been charitable to those in need.
