The St. Marys Marching Devils are excited to start a new year. Under the direction of Bridgette Bowen-Casto, the band is ready to show everyone their field show this year, “Let’s Go to the Movies.” The show includes a western medley called “Go West” with soloists Autumn Harper and Jacob Asher. They also have an adventure medley including “Star Wars,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Their third song is a love ballad medley which includes “Shallow” and “Never Enough/From Now On” soloists include Noah Casto and Myles Pierce. Then they finish their showoff with a bang with statement pieces that include “Live and Let Die” and “We are the Champions” with soloist Autumn Harper.
Senior Emma Kirby lays some light on how she feels about what she likes most about the field show this year. She says, “There are so many surprises to look forward to throughout the show.” This year the band is also student lead by Linsie Asher. The Marching Devils had their very first competition this past Saturday at the Oil and Gas Festival. The band earned a bronze rating overall.
Sophomore Corey Yoho says he was most excited for “the concession stand” at the competitions. While sophomore Sam Lauderman was more excited to “meeting new people from different bands.” T band has three more competitions then the big state competition in Charleston, where they hope to reclaim their title as Class D State Champions.
