The successful track team made the trip to Ripley recently to compete in the Viking Classic meet. The boys’ team finished in fifth and the girls finished in seventh place.
In way of individual finishes, the only first place for the boys’ team was Ty Watkins, who has been very successful in the shotput, throwing an impressive 46 feet, 3 inches. Our racers were very successful with two second place finishers. These include Max Dauch in the 1600 and our 4×800 relay of Jay Mote, Reece Westfall, Tristan Murner, and Preston Lawhon.
For the girls’ team, Virginia Haddox claimed first in the 3200, as well as our 4×800 team of Savannah Keife, Natalie Bartrug, Maddie Smith, and Virginia Haddox. All of us at SMHS are very proud of the track team, and we wish them luck at the regional and state tournament.
