Toy Story (1995) is the very first Pixar full-length 3D animated film to be released to the world and is a wonderful movie. The movie takes place in a child’s, Andy’s, room full of toys that can come to life while he is away. Woody, the sheriff and Andy’s favorite toy, has to watch over the other toys and keep them in check, as well as welcome the new toys Andy brings into his room. It’s Andy’s birthday before they move away, and he gets a cool toy: Buzz Lightyear, and he begins to favor him over ever other toy, including Woody.
Woody gets jealous, and tries to get rid of Buzz, but only ends up being lost with him instead. He and Buzz must go on an adventure to make their way back home to Andy before they move away, leaving them behind. I watched this movie ages ago, and I believe it was on VHS when I was little. This movie is a family-friendly comedy and adventure film. The plot is pretty simple to understand, as its just toys going on a wacky adventure to try to get home.
I do care about the characters, as they are well-written and hilarious. Woody, though a jerk in the beginning, comes around in the end. As of now, there are a total of 4 (5 coming up) movies in the series and is Pixar’s most popular franchise. The voice acting of the characters were well done, the diversity in the tones and voices being apparent. There isn’t any graphic content that I can think of, just maybe one or two creepy moments. I learned while watching this that family and friends are an important thing, and no matter what you think, you will be loved by someone.
I would personally recommend this for a fun family night, or just a night where you need a laugh from a movie. In conclusion, I rate this movie a 7 out of 10.
