I most recently watched “Freelance”, a 2023 action/comedy movie starring John Cena, Allison Brie, and Juan Pablo Raba. It is about an ex-special forces operative, Mason Pettits, who is now a lawyer after his helicopter was hit during a mission, resulting in him getting injured and half of his friends being killed. He is unhappy with his life and job, so he takes on a mission to provide private security to a “cancelled” journalist who is interviewing the man who he thought took down his helicopter. Once there, a coup is after President Venegas, who she is interviewing, and Mason has to navigate them through the country of Paldonia, while taking out the enemies.
Throughout the movie, Mason finds his purpose again. I did not really like this movie, but I did not think it was bad. Some parts were confusing to follow, but it had a lot of humor. I would rate it a 6/10.
