Jackets Swarm Blue Devils

St. Marys ended the month of September with a stinging loss to Williamstown Friday night at Stadium Field in Parkersburg. WIlliamstown showed why they are the top-ranked team in the state. This game always means a lot to both schools, teams, and fan bases as it is one of the longest and biggest rivalry games in the state for any class.
The Blue Devils started the game off fast and in impressive fashion with a very nice 66-yard touchdown pass by Luke Powell to Joey Ramsey. It stunned the Jackets, but it didn’t take long for them to take over and have a one-yard touchdown from Rickie Allen.
At Halftime, Williamstown entered the locker room with a 28-14 lead and then put the game away with three unanswered touchdowns in the second half.
St. Marys moved the ball at times in the second half, but mistakes– particularly two turnovers– kept head coach Jodi Motes’ team off the scoreboard in the final two quarters. The Blue Devils will carry a 3-2 record into the annual Homecoming game against Wirt County Tigers with a record of 4-1 at Bill Hanlin Stadium.
