Volleyball Sectionals

Volleyball+Sectionals

Although it bowed out of the postseason after two straight losses, St. Marys High School’s volleyball team showed a lot of grit in last week’s Class A, Region 1, Section 2 tournament at Tyler Consolidated. The Lady Devils faced the Williamstown Lady Yellowjackets in the first match of the double elimination tournament.
Even with the grit and hustle that comes with the end-of-season matches, the St. Marys’ Lady Devils were unable to take the win. Olivia DeWeese led the Lady Devils with 12 digs. Emily Hadley and Millie Kehrer each tailed four points. St. Mary’s season was hung by a thread in the next match against the No. 2 seed Tyler Consolidated Knights.
The Lady Devils shocked Tyler with a victory in the first set, but could not. Then the second and third set came and the Lady Devils were close but could not pull off the Victory in sectionals over the Lady Knights. The hustle from the Devils in that match was tremendous, they played as a team and were communicating very well.
As the four seniors Olivia DeWeese, Emily Hadley, Alexus Farson, and Josie Bills play their last game they will go out knowing that they tried their hardest and did the best that they could over these four years. It will be sad seeing them go but they know the team that they had behind them and they will go far in their next seasons.
