Homecoming week at SMHS was filled of traditions, spirit and fun. There were many things that the students, staff and community had been looking forward to. Such as spirit days, which included soccer moms vs. BBQ dads on Monday, meme day on Tuesday, teacher/student swap on Wednesday, rhyme without reason on Thursday and spirit day on Friday. The annual powderpuff game held on Monday at 2 p.m. for seniors vs. juniors. The juniors won with a final score of 27-21.
One of the bigger traditions held is the crowning of belle. The belle candidates and their escorts this year were: Avie Sprouse and her escort Casey Burkhammer, Kylie Sprouse and her escort Tristan Murner, Carson Miller and her escort Jason Cross, Lily Wiley and her escort Bryce Bills and Clover Moody and her escort Blake Campbell. Carson Miller was crowned the 72nd Belle of St Marys and Bryce Bills was voted Mr. Sexy Legs.
On Friday, a pep rally was held where all belle candidates and their escorts played games. Mr. Sexy Legs was also crowned at this time as well. The annual homecoming parade was held at 4:30p.m. and that is where the community sees all fall sports, belle candidates and their escorts, as well as the 9-12th graders’ floats.
Followed by the parade was the football game where the Blue Devils took on the Magnolia Eagles at 7:30 p.m. During half time the crowning of the 72nd belle was held, and the winners of float building were announced. This game resulted in a win for the Blue Devils. To finish the week, on Saturday the homecoming dance was held at the high school from 7-10 p.m. We hope everyone had a fun and amazing homecoming week!
