Years ago, I watched the movie Miracles from Heaven, and just here recently I watched it again after it was re-uploaded on Netflix. Even after all this time, it still makes me look at life from a different perspective and gives me the same powerful and emotional feeling as it did when I saw it for the first time. The movie is based on a true story and follows the Beam family while they navigate through their daughter Anna’s diagnosis of a rare and painful digestive disorder, while also trying to find hope when everything seems lost. Right when things started to feel hopeless, a terrible accident occurred that ended up curing Anna, it being something the doctors couldn’t even explain. This is where the title Miracles from Heaven comes from.
Jennifer Garner, who plays Christy Beam, did an amazing job at acting and showing exactly what it looks like to be a mom who refuses to give up on her child. I know I cared about the characters because I wanted things to get better for them, which is why the story made me even more interested. Since it is based on real events, the miracle feels even more powerful to me and very inspiring, instead of usually feeling unrealistic. One scene that really stands out to me is when Anna explains her experience in heaven. It was one of the most emotional parts of the whole movie and made it unforgettable. Overall, I would highly recommend watching Miracles from Heaven even if you aren’t religious, because it is such an eye-opening movie and will make you look at life differently.
