The St. Marys Blue Devils kicked off their season Friday August 29, 2025, with a 13-0 win over the Ravenswood Red Devils. The visiting Red Devils have yet to win a game since 2023, but that didn’t stop the Blue Devils from coming out more efficient and coming out on top. A special teams’ blunder led to the first points early in the game for St. Marys. Ravenswood forced St. Marys to punt on first possession, but Noah Mote recovered for the Blue Devils inside Red Devil territory at the 30-yard line.
Five plays later, Eli Wilson scored for the Blue Devils by pushing through the pile and into the end zone. Elijah Kimball successfully kicked the field goal and Blue Devils led 7-0. Throughout the second quarter, St. Marys held Ravenswood back and continues to strip them away from their opportunity to score. Eli Cox broke up the closest fourth down threat before half.
Coming back after the half, St. Marys cashed in on the second short-field situation. Kaige Winland had an 11-yaard gain to put the Blue Devils in scoring position. Eli Cox finished the drive to score a 3-yard touchdown run. Elijah Kimballs extra point went wide right, and St. Marys led 13-0. The Blue Devils were able to keep the clock moving through the fourth quarter and hold off the Red Devils from scoring.
Sophomore quarterback Jeremiah DeMoss was a key to the Blue Devils offense completing 3 of 8 passes for 52 yards while rushing for 84 yards on 16 carries. SM ended with 196 yards of offense, 32 being from Eli Cox and 15 from Eli Wilson. The Blue Devils start their season 1-0.
