On Nov. 8 SMHS hosted the Veteran’s Day assembly to honor local veterans. It stared with an opening by Mrs. Barnhart, then Jay Mote gave the opening remarks. Dessie Fickiesen led The Pledge of Allegiance followed by The Star-Spangled Banner. Then, a poem was read by Kendall McGee. All in attendance sang “America the Beautiful;” Callie Powell and Mrs. Corrigan presented a flag ceremony.
The band then played another song, followed by Madison Sturgeon reading “Not Too Young.” Mrs. Corrigan, Kendall McGee, Kendra Williamson, Sidni Gerlach, Addy Cummings and Raelyn Barnhart all introduced all the guests and spouses. The student body sang “Proud to be an American,” and Carter Edwards made the closing remarks. The students then lined the hallways as the veterans walked out to get lunch. The lunch was watched over and plated by Lexi Webb and Kenzie
Armstrong. The food was severed by all of the kids who helped in the program.
