Trap is a movie about a serial killer taking his daughter to a movie only to find out that it was set up as a trap to catch him. Then once he finds out about it the movie shows how he goes to escape. I watched Trap in my bedroom yesterday with a friend on HBO MAX. Trap is a horror and mystery genre class movie. The plot for me was never confusing because the camera always followed Cooper (the main character and serial killer) and his point of view, so it showed us how he thought without Cooper having to say anything.
The characters that my heart reached out for were Riley and Logan. They are Cooper’s children, and they had no clue that their father was the mass serial killer that was wanted by the FBI. But I more so cared for Riley, because the whole movie she was very close to being in harm’s way because her father was closer and closer to snapping and she never fully caught on until the end.
The acting was amazing especially from Cooper and Riley’s actors because they really nailed the part of the sociopathic killer and the teenage daughter that is slowly becoming suspicious. The events were not totally believable but, what horror movies are? The part that was the most realistic was how they showed Cooper’s mind working throughout the movie. The unrealistic part was how even when everywhere was set up as a trap he did not get caught until the very end. The special effects were very engaging, it made me feel as if I was at the concert with them. There are trigger warnings for adult topics and it is on the more graphic sign.
I would recommend this movie to watch if it is a horror movie party or even for a spooky date night. My rating for this movie is 10 out of 10. I absolutely loved not only the concept but also how the concept was delivered was phenomenal.
