This past weekend I discovered horror movie “Pearl”. This movie was the story of a farm girl in 1918 who had dreams of being famous but because of her strict mother and disabled father she was beginning to think she would never be able to leave the depressing family farm. She meets a man that she thinks can change the way her life is going and falls for him even tho she is already married. But in the end, she ends up biting off a little more then she can chew.
This movie is not a confusing concept and is extremely easy to understand and follow along with. I didn’t care much for any of the characters other then in the beginning when I felt bad for Pearl for having such a strict and unforgiving mother and a disabled father. This movie does have a sequel, and the second film is “X” which I personally have not watched. The acting wasn’t the best, you could tell her crying was staged and fake, it really just did not sound realistic at all. The events were believable, there was nothing that happened that wasn’t possible to happen in real life.
There weren’t any specific quotes that she said that really stuck out to me because for most of the movie she was a psychopath. The special effects were fine but nothing amazing which I prefer so it looks realistic. There were a lot of really disturbing scenes in this movie and sometimes just made you cringe and look away. Their movie definitely warrants a trigger warning because of the graphic and profane content. If I had to compare this movie to another, I would compare it to “1922” because they take place around the same time and both involving someone in a family wanting something’s and another character wanting something different, so they get enraged and begin killing. There really wasn’t much to learn from this movie but if I had to say something it would to not be selfish and only thing about yourself. I wouldn’t really recommend this movie to anyone because I wasn’t impressed by it at all. I rate this movie a 3-10
