The SMHS cross country team travelled to Ripley for the Covered Bridge Invitational. The Boys had 13 athletes competing in this race. They were up against 18 other Cross Country boy teams with 100 athletes running. Bryce Bills and Reese Westfall were in the top ten to cross the finish line. Bills ran the 5k course in 17:55:31 leading him to coming in seventh place and Reese was just seconds behind him coming in ninth with a score of 17:58:20.
The Devils completed the scoring with Parker Barnes coming in 16th, Daniel Winland 32 and Jay Mote 33rd. The Blue Devils are one of the Cross-Country teams to watch out for in the state. Especially in their Class A division. The other 8 Cross Country Boys who competed are: Desmond Parks 35th, Carter sole 44th, Roe Maston 59th, Christian Houser 63rd, Riley Gerlach 76th, Micah Evans 80th, Ashton Davis 98th, Max Cook 106th.
The girls team didn’t have enough athletes to get a group score. There were several of the lady devils with injuries. There were only four girls competing in this race. Anna Bennett came in fourth with a time of 21:15:96, Natalie Bartrug came in seventh place with a time of22:29:17, Mariah Whitlock came in 21st place. Sidni Gerlach was the last one to finish the course with a time of 25:52:76.
