The Blue Devils showcased their dominance at the Straight Regional Championship held at the Elizabeth golf course, securing their sixth consecutive title. Undefeated against their regional rivals all season, the team entered the tournament brimming with confidence, particularly with three seasoned seniors eager to make their mark.
Trent Renner led the charge, finishing with a remarkable 1-under par score, earning the medalist title. Preston Lawhon matched the intensity with an even-par round of 72, while Kenzie Armstrong secured third place with a solid 1-over par 73. The trio propelled the Blue Devils to a historic total of 216, an impressive 41 strokes ahead of the runner-up, Tyler Consolidated, who also qualified for the state tournament in Wheeling.
Tripp Morrison rounded out the team, shooting a 14-over par 86, contributing to the overall success. His score, though the sixth best of the day, underscored the team’s depth and collective effort, as only the top three scores counted toward the final tally.
With a new regional record in hand, the Blue Devils celebrated their achievement, but their eyes were set on the state tournament scheduled for October 8-9 at Oglebay’s Jones Course. They were not just ready to compete; they were determined to redefine excellence and make their mark on the state stage. The journey continued, and the Blue Devils were eager to prove their mettle in Wheeling.
