St. Marys High School held its National Honor Society (NHS) induction ceremony, celebrating the achievements and character of its students. The event began with a processional, followed by a welcome address from Ms. Paige Crawford-Cook, the NHS sponsor. Principal Mrs. Lori Barnhart delivered congratulatory remarks, setting an inspirational tone for the evening.
The chapter recognition segment highlighted the Four Pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. The students who presented these pillars were Laura Hacker (Scholarship), Callie Powell (Service), Micah Evans (Leadership), and Natalie Bartrug (Character).
New inductees for the 2024 SMHS Chapter were recognized. The seniors inducted included Baylee Dilling, Ryan Kent, Bricia Shultz, Madison Sturgeon, Bella Tagliarini, and Allyson Tidwell. The juniors inducted were McKenna Broce, Taylor Brode, Casey Burrhammer, Alyssa Dawson, Dessie Fickiesen, Sidney Kisner, Bryce McGrady, Clover Moody, Autumn Mossor, Layla Snively, Avie Sprouse, Kylie Sprouse, Madelyn Steele, Alexandria Wilson and Alyssa Winland.
Current members present at the ceremony were Linsie Asher, Natalie Bartrug, Ella Bullman, Addie Davis, Drake Duty, Logan Eddy, Micah Evans, Laura Hacker, Autumn Harper, Ryleigh Haught, Savannah Kiefe, Emma Kirby, Preston Lawhon, Cali Masters, Mary Beth Morrison, Jay Mote, Callie Powell, Trent Renner, Brady Rice, Kyleigh Rupert
and Emma Weikart.
Cali Masters led the candle lighting ceremony, symbolizing the enduring values of the NHS. The pledge was done by Mary Beth Morrison, emphasizing the commitment to keeping high scholastic standing, fostering an untarnished character, and serving as a leader.
The ceremony concluded with a reminder for NHS members to still be in the gym for a chapter picture and the opportunity to celebrate with their guests. The event was a testament to the dedication and excellence of the students at St. Marys High School.
