On Sept. 15, Anna Kimball, Dessie Fickiesen, Rylee Renner, Hollie Smith, Zoey Winland and Destinee Gray competed to become the next Ag Fair Queen. To meet the requirements to enter, you must be between ages 14 and 21 years old. You must be at least a two-year member with a high standing on the St. Marys High School FFA Program or the Pleasants County 4H Program. The candidates must also have competed a project within the calendar year that is recognized by the Pleasants County Agricultural Youth Fair. The process consists of filling a sheet out about yourself, listing accomplishments, hobbies, and extracurricular activities. Then, the candidates are interviewed and judged on a short speech and how they answered specific questions from judges.
Out of all the candidates, Anna Kimball stood out to the judges the most, which earned her the title of Ag Fair Queen. With this accomplishment, she has new responsibilities such as handing out awards and being a part of the town’s parades. “I am honored to be named the 2024 Ag Fair Queen. I am excited to take on this new role and represent the agricultural community,” said Kimball.
