A team of students from St. Marys, West Virginia, has clinched a spot in the National Cardboard Boat Regatta after winning the state qualifier at Paden City Marina. Team members Preston Lawhon, Brady Rinard, Brody Rice, and Tyson Kimball, along with their teacher, Mr. Semple, impressed judges with their innovative cardboard boat design.
“What started out as a simple project for Ap Art Class has now turned into a shot at the national title,” said Brody Rice. The team will compete on Sunday, October 20th, against other talented young engineers from across the country.
The community has rallied around the team, with local businesses and residents offering their support. As the competition approaches, excitement builds for the team as they prepare to showcase their skills on a national stage.
