St. Marys had a tough start to their football season, losing 41-0 to Doddridge County. The Blue Devils struggled on both offense and defense throughout the game. On offense, St. Marys had a tough time moving the ball, managing only three first downs. They turned the ball over three times early in the game, which really hurt their chances to score. Defensively, they had a few bright spots, like a key sack by Eli Wilson that stopped a Bulldogs drive.
However, they could not keep up with Doddridge County’s running game, which led to several quick touchdowns. There were some moments of hope, especially when running back Elijah Kimball and quarterback Ryan Kent finally crossed midfield late in the third quarter. But they could not capitalize on that progress.
With some key players lost to graduation from last year’s successful team, St. Marys will need to regroup quickly before their next game against Oak Glen. They will aim to improve their performance on both sides of the ball.
