With the new school year at SMHS, we now have a new schedule and assigned parking spots. In previous years, athletes would miss important classes during ninth period, making it hard to catch up. Now, the advisory has been moved to the end of the day, so athletes do not miss as much. To add on, every student is able to attend advisory activities like social emotional and intermurals. It is important to attend these activities, especially for seniors so they do not miss college information and scholarship opportunities. Furthermore, for the first time all students have been assigned parking spots. Adding this creates a safer environment. Officer Jason Reed states, “It points out unrecognizable vehicles easier.” Officer Reed collected licenses and insurance for each driver to make sure nobody is driving illegally. Students and staff are still getting used to these recent changes but overall, they have created a better school environment.
