The SMHS wrestling team hosted 16 teams in the regional tournament. After being forced to start the math an hour late because of weather, the tournament still started up with no problems. Finishing first came Fairmont Senior and Oak Glenn. These teams qualified 11 wrestlers a piece. In Third was Berkeley Springs. They qualified 10 wrestlers. Wheeling Central finished 5th with 4 qualifiers. St. Marys did not have any placers but did have two wrestlers be an alternate at the state tournament. Kaige Winland and Jason Cross earned this spot. St. Mary’s finished 12th in the tournament. Blue Devil Kaige Winland had arguably his best performance this day going 4-2 after battling illness all week. Shane DeWeese, Alex Baltazar, and Jason Cross all won a pair of matches on the day. Tristan Murner, Jeremiah DeMoss, and Kayden Lambert all won a single match for the Blue Devils.
