The St Marys Blue Devils boys’ basketball team continues a post-season run with a win over magnolia High School. The Eagles have had a successful season, but it was cut short by the commanding performance from the Blue Devils.
With a struggle of a season from the Blue Devils, it was unlikely that they would have much success once the regular season concluded, but they quickly flipped that narrative by winning the Sectional championship game 58-56. With a history of two losses against the Eagles going into the sectional championships, they were not the favorites to win.
The Blue Devils came out hot early, with a 15-10 lead through the first quarter. They would go on to extend this lead to 33-24 at halftime. The third quarter was fairly even, bringing the score to 44-34, but the Eagles were not finished. They delivered a surging last quarter, outscoring the Blue Devils 22-14, two points short of a victory.
Individually, the Blue Devils saw two scorers in the double digits, with Brody rice at 11 and Wyatt Pinkerton at 10 points. Additionally, Brody Rice scored 2 three-pointers, and Pinkerton scored one.
