Recently, Mia Schofield announced that she will be continuing her athletic career at West Virginia Wesleyan College. The senior had a great high school career. She was a significant key to rebuilding the high school program from a long drought. In her sophomore year, she contributed to turning the season around and leading the team to a winning season, the first in 20 years. She earned LKC honorable mention and had a team-best 195 digs for the season.
Her junior year was even better, earning a team-best 230 kills, 64 blocks and 655 attacks, as well as 252 points, good enough for second. She led the team to its best record in a long time with 22-12, but only earned an honorable mention in the conference.
She capped off her high school season very well, earning All-state honorable mention and second team all-conference. She recorded 784 blocks, 471 digs, 313 kills, and 149 points. Mia had a successful few years of high school volleyball, helping turn around a once-struggling program into a newly revived, more successful one.
Schofield plans to attend West Virginia Wesleyan College and study elementary education. She feels that she wants to make a difference for students in that respect and help them in their development. Mia Schofield achieved a lot as a student and an athlete, and SMHS is proud of what she has done.
