The SMHS girls basketball team came out on top of the matchup during the championship game for their home invite against Belpre. The lady devils had a rocky start at one popping being behind by 10 points. The lady devils were down 4 going into the fourth quarter. The Lady Devils then decided to wake up and outscored the eagles by seven points for a end score of 49-46 to claim the crown. This improved St. Marys girls to a 12-3 record.
The Devils won this championship for the 9th time out of 17 championship appearances. Four girls were named all-tournament Bulluck, Davis, Powell and Price. Bullock led with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Davis had 11 points, 4 rebounds and 6 steals. Powell had 10 points, 5 rebounds and four assists. Price added 8 points for the night. Bennett came off the bench to tally 7 points, 4 rebounds. Martin didn’t score but added in 4 blocked shots.
