St. Marys earned an easy 59-25 victory over Roane County in the boys’ semifinals of the SMHS Boys and Girls Invitational Thursday night.
When a winter storm disrupted the tournament schedule, the game was moved up a day. St. Marys advanced to play Ritchie County in the boys’ championship game. That contest was postponed Saturday and will now be played Feb. 6. The Blue Devils’ sixth man, Lawhon made his second straight start in place of Ryan Kent, who is sidelined with a foot injury. Lawhon was joined in twin-digits by seniors
Ashton Boron, who scored 13 points, and Shane Moran, who had 12 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists. St. Marys was never challenged by Roane County, which fell to 4-7 on the year with the loss.
The Blue Devils scored the first 15 points of the game and led 21-8 at the end of the first quarter and 32-16 the fourth quarter. The biggest lead on the night was 55-20. The blue devils have had several near misses against some of the states top teams and yet won the semifinals 25 – 59.
