On Jan. 4 Pleasants County schools implemented a new bullying prevention program named OLWEUS. Before the start of this, the middle and high school bands performed. The dance team also performed a modern dance routine. Then, a PowerPoint presentation was presented about the program. The St. Marys team that was trained included Lori Barnhart, Mandy Mote, Jodi Mote, Loura Rinard, Micheal Simonton, Hunter Smitley, Amanda Childers, and Helen Wells. These anti-bullying rules will be displayed around the schools and students will participate in OLWEUS topics associated with bullying. The topics will be addressed through guided discussions, student led discussions or role-playing situations with the main goal of of creating opportunities to build positive relationships among all the students and staff.
