SMHS administration have made it clear that in the second semester of this school year they are cracking down on the phone usage. Students were spoken to prior to Christmas break and parents were notified via social media at the start of the second semester. They want students to have better focus in classrooms and get away from their phones. The handbook states in a summed-up version that it is meant to maintain order and have an effective school environment they feel removing electronics will help to do this
