This is a very controversial statement among students and parents. Senior year is filled with fun activities, days of doing nothing, and bad attendance. If the kids are skipping anyway why should we make them go? Senior year should be mandatory, but it should be shortened. The seniors that have already passed enough college courses to graduate shouldn’t be forced to attend every day until the end of the year.
They should be let out after April and spring break. When students come back from spring break their classes are filled with exams and prep for next year. Seniors don’t need this because they wont be returning. Although there is an exception for this, kids that don’t have enough credits or failed should be in school up until the end. This would give all students the push that is needed to do their best in all classes and pass. Everyone would want to get out early so they would work hard to do so.
Senior year is important there are lots of memories to be made and people to say goodbye to. It’s the last year everyone will be together before going off on their own. Its important to be in school this year but not for the full year that we go.
