The St. Marys Blue Devils traveled to Ritchie County High School to play against the young Rebels basketball team. The team struggled early in the contest, falling behind by ten points with one quarter remaining. The Blue Devils made a final surge to try to win the game, but they were ultimately unsuccessful, losing to the Rebels 42-38. They struggled overall with their shooting, only making 21% of their attempted shots. Additionally, other statistics such as rebounding were clearly won by the Rebels, where they out-rebounded the Blue Devils by 42-28.
On a good note, the Blue Devils’ defense was very successful, forcing seventeen turnovers and keeping them in contention for a chance at victory. Additionally, seniors Shane Moran and Ashton Boron tacked on fourteen and ten points, respectively. Other scorers were Preston Lawhon with eight, Ryan Kent with four, and Wyatt Pinkerton with two. On the other side, the Rebels were led by Isaac Hodges with nineteen points, Seth Cronin and Alex Roberson with six points each, Bodhi Utter with five points, Rhett Johnson with three points, Turner Shriver with two points, and Garrett Flesher with one point.
Despite the success of the Ritchie County Basketball team, the Blue Devils are hopeful for a successful remaining season and a strong post season surge. The St. Marys Blue Devils have some great games upcoming, so your attendance would be greatly appreciated by the fans and the players.
