On Nov. 9 at 10 a.m SMHS held the annual Veteran’s Day assembly. All of the students and staff gathered in the gym to celebrate a few of our brave men and women who have served for our country. They started off with the pledge of allegiance, then listened to the “Star-Spangled Banner,” “This is Our Land” and then listened to a poem named “The Best on Earth: A Veteren’s Day Tribute that was read by Emma Kirby. Next, they had a flag representation done by Mrs. Corrigan. After that, the band performed “Patriotic Spectacular.” Next, we introduced our distinguished guests.
This included: Scott Kirby, Howard Meeks II, Jim Maley, Jason Schofield, Caryl Bishop, David Forni, Tom Bishop, Denver Adams, Greg Janes, Shawn Gerard, Al Hendricks, Nathaniel Decker, Clinton Utt, Mike McGee, Trey Cummings, Heather Cummings, Ketih Cummings, Philip Riggs, Clarence Bills, Mark Mayfield, Mike Amos, Tom Blake, Mark Kimball, Chuch Mankins, Charles Hill, Dwayne Colplin, Stanley Martin, Gary Bills, Art Smith, Owen Velazquez and Jason Reed. Lastly, everyone sang along to “Proud to be an American,” and had our closing remarks made by junior
