I recently watched “Heredity”. It is a thriller/horror movie I’d give it a six out of 10 on the jump scare and an eight out of 10 on the psychological thrill that it gives you. This movie starts out pretty slow as it introduces all the characters. It starts at their grandmothers funeral that just recently passed.
From the beginning you can see that this family’s dynamic is very odd, the grandmother cared for Ellens daughter Charlie. Charlie is very sad when her grandmother passes so her mother Ellen makes her go to a party with her brother. Earlier in the movie we see Charlie packing a epipen so we know she has allergies of some kind. When her and her brother Peter make it to the party we soon see that it isn’t very kid friendly. Her brother tells her to stay in the living room and get a piece of cake while he hangs out with his friends. As she’s eating this cake she has an allergic reaction and runs to her brother. He then try’s to get her in the car and rush to the hospital as she’s hanging her head out the window he swerves and she is decapitated by a telephone pole. He then goes home and goes to bed, in the morning his mom finds her lifeless daughter in the back of her car. She is very angry with her son and resents him.
The movie starts getting scary when the mom meets with a friend of the grandma who can contact spirits. She contacts her husband from the dead and we can see this by him writing a message of I love you on a chalkboard. Then the mom try’s to conjure up her dead daughter lots of scary things start happening around the house and the brother gets really scared. The dead daughter begins drawing these terrible pictures of her brother and the dad finds these pictures but when he try’s to burn them he catches fire and dies. The mom is then possessed and is trying to kill her son. It ends with the mother dying and the son gets crowned the king of this cult like group and that is where the movie ends.
