After a loss to Williamstown last Friday night, St. Marys traveled to Webster County to win 39-0. The Devils improved their record to 5-1, while Webster fell to 2-4 on the year.
Our offense put out 354 yards, and the defense held Webster to only 87 yards. Ashton Boron rushed for 113 yards on 10 carries and scored four touchdowns. Ryan Kent completed four of eight passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
Boron scored 15 seconds into the game on the opening kickoff for 80 yards. Sam Miller’s kick was good to up the score 7-0 early. Boron scored again in the first quarter on a 24-yard run, ending the quarter 13-0.
Less than a minute into the second quarter, Boron scored his third touchdown of the night on a 1-yard run. The extra-point was good, extended the lead to 19-0. Jake Delancey also scored in the second quarter on an 85-yard pass from Kent. Kent’s second touchdown score was a 6-yard pass to Shane Moran, which the kick was blocked. The Devils led 32-0 with 4:58 left in the second half. Boron closed out the half with his final touchdown and an extra-point from Miller. The Devils led 39-0 going into halftime.
The second half was scoreless, and the fourth quarter had a running clock. St. Marys won with a final score of 39-0.
Webster County was penalized 11 times for 100 yards, while St. Marys had only three flags for 15 yards. Josiah Demoss had six tackles, tying Miller, and an interception. The Devils have not let any of their opponents score more than 14 points through the first six games.
The Blue Devils will take on Magnolia next Friday night at Bill Hanlin Stadium for homecoming.
