Five seniors at St. Marys High School were excited to see who will be crowned the 70th belle of St. Marys. The crowning took place at the homecoming football game against Magnolia on Friday, Oct. 13, at halftime at the Bill Handling Stadium. Ava Giovinazzo was crowned the 70th Belle of St. Marys and her escort Lance Craven earned the title of “Mr. Sexy Legs” by a money vote. The other four candidates were: Halle DeWeese, Layne Kincaid, Breanna Price and Alyssa Brooker.
Ava is the daughter of Joe and Aimee Giovinazzo of St. Mary’s. She will be escorted by Lance Craven and driven in the parade by Sunny Shubach in a red Corvette Z06. Her dress was made by Judy Nutter and is made of crushed lilac velvet in memory of her mother, Giovinazzo. It has gold accents throug
hout, draping sleeves, and a sweetheart cut.
Halle is the daughter of Justin DeWeese and Katie Forshey of St. Marys. She will be escorted by Logan Boley and driven in the parade in a 2007 Pontiac Solstice. Her dress was made by Judy Nutter and is her mom’s belle dress from 2000. It had lace beading and velvet buttons dyed by Donna Anderson. It is black velvet with a black silk bow and bodice covered with gold-beaded floral lace.
Layne Kincaid is the daughter of Aaron and Kelly Kincaid of Waverly. She will be escorted by Noah Straight and driven in the parade by Greg Davis in a Chevy Corvett. Her dress, made by Judy Nutter, is floor-length charcoal plush velvet with a silk silver drape, bow, and trim. It is accented with jewels and a big silver box in the back.
Breanna Price is the daughter of Rocky and Jessie Price of St.Mary’s. She will be escorted by Wyatt Pinkerton and driven in the parade by Chris Kent in a silver 2007 Pontiac Solstice. Her dress, made by Judy Nutter, has an off-the-shoulder sweetheart cut bodice with a full floor-length burgundy sequin shimmer velvet. The gown is accented with a 3-d floral design embroidered with beaded lace.
Alyssa Brooker is the daughter of Chris Brooker and Jenny Buchholz. She is escorted by Cole Darnold and will be driven in the parade by Angie Miller in a blue 1967 Firebird convertible. Her dress was made by Linda Lockhart. It’s rose pink with a tool and a flower overlay.
