Mrs. Amber Campano has been in charge of the theater department for six years now. She inspires students to get involved in theater by using her English-literature background. Student director, Willow Peyton, says, “It has been a huge honor getting to work with such a talented group of kids. From the first read-through, they have been nothing short of passionate and hardworking all throughout the rehearsal process. As a director (who is incredibly devoted to theater) I have been blessed with the amazing opportunity to bring what I love to SMHS, and I think Mrs. Campano for every bit of that.”
This year’s class and cast include: Parker Barnes, Virginia Haddox, Madison Kern, Emma Kirby, Sam Lauderman, Bane Lemasters, Adalyn Mayle, Kendall Mcgee, Jacob Metz, John Miller, Jack Peyton, Willow Peyton, Maddie Sherrod, Bricia Shultz, Alayne Smith, Savannah Steele, Bella Tagliarini, Madison Taylor, Natalie Taylor, Cole Thomas, Serenity Thompson, Emma Weikart and Casey Wince.
The SMHS theater department will compete a one act play titled, “About Her” at regional competition at Parkersburg South on January 13. This act is about a woman who everyone thinks is in danger, but when you think you know what you think you know isn’t what you know. This play is a mind twister and makes you think hard about if what you are thinking about is really what the situation is.
Their spring production will be, “Clue: High School Edition.” Clue is based on the iconic 1985 paramount movie which is inspired by the board game. It all begins at a remote mansion where six guests assemble for an unusual dinner. Then the host turns up dead and everyone is a suspect. It becomes a race to find the killer before it’s too late. It will leave you wondering who did it, where, and with what!
