This year the band has started off well with their competition placing high in all categories.
They competed in the Oil and Gas Festival Competition on Sept. 16 for their first battle of the year. Then they went against Parkersburg and Parkersburg South on Sept. 20. At PSHS they placed in the following categories in their class: Field Commander- 1st place, Percussion- 2nd place, Color Guard- 2nd and Overall Band- 3rd. After that they made went to Ripley for the Viking Festival on Oct. 7. They placed in the following categories for their class: Field Commander- 2nd, Percussion- 3rd, Color Guard- 4th, Music- 4th and Visual- 5th.
In all these competitions they have placed well and had some hard-fought battles to place how they have. This years band has a few more competitions left this month traveling to the Governor’s Cup Finals on Oct. 21 and the Marshal Tri-County Invitational on Oct. 28 finishing off the competitions for this month. We wish the band the best of luck for the competitions they are competing in next.
