The St. Marys High School Induction Ceremony for the National Nonor Society was held in the St. Marys High School gymnasium at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29. The SMHS students body intended the ceremony with parents and guests of the 26 new inductees.
Paige Crawford-cook the NHS sponsor welcomed the member of the Pleasants County board of education, administration, staff, student body to the ceremony. These 26 include: seniors Delaney Brookover, Sidney Cummings, Josiah DeMoss and Mia Schofield. Juniors were Linsie Asher, Natalie Bartrug, Ella Bullman, Addie Davis, Drake Duty, Logan Eddy, Micah Evan, Laura Hacker, Autumn Harper, Ryleigh Haught, Savanna Keife, Emma Kirby, Preston Lawhan, Cali Masters, Jay Mote, Mary Beth Morrison, Callie Powell, Trent Renner, Brody Rice, Brady Rindard, Kyleigh Rupert and Emma Weikart.
This achievement goes beyond a reports card by empowering, championing and recognizing well-rounded students. Ava Giovinazzo proclaimed to all the attendance that the new candidates for the NHS has been earned through the affective demonstration of the four pillars that are the standard for the NHS. A scholarship was presents by Joleen McBrayer service was presented by Halle DeWeese; leadership was presented by Willow Peyton and character was presented by Keira Martin. Andlynn Corathers led the candle lighting ceremony, and she asked the new inductees to raise their right hand and repeat the NHS pledge.
