Countless students across the world strive to be their best, and through sports, extracurriculars, and school, they have no extra time. This is difficult, as it makes others not want to be their best if they have no time to do what they want and can’t relax. For the students who still take those difficult classes and have the extra homework, they struggle greatly to stay afloat through the sea of work and other time commitments. Schools should take the time to respect the time of students and recognize the commitment they already make. Students deserve extra time to complete work. With the addition of study halls and down time, students can easily complete work free of stress and worry that they will not get assignments completed.
Students with many time commitments struggle to stay ahead on work when they do not have the time to complete work. While this may help teach time management, so would the addition of a study hall period to all students’ schedules. This time will allow them to complete their work in a timely manner and be successful outside of school in their other commitments. School is our largest priority, but our homes should not be the place where we have to complete work, all the while sacrificing our time and energy on assignments that we should be allowed to complete at school. While advanced students should have more difficult work, they should not have to sacrifice their free time to do even more work.
