Basketball is a team sport, where two teams compete against another team, both teams regularly have five players on the court, trying to prevent the other team for shooting in their own hoop. Basketball can promote speed, agility, strength and has also been shown to increase flexibility. Basketball has taught people how to be a good team player, have good leadership and shows how to achieve a common goal. It has valuable teamwork and leadership skills that can be transferable to the classroom. It helps you develop faster decision making skills as you often have to make split second decisions with very little time on hand.
You can transfer these skills to other aspects of your life, like work or family. Basketball has a very fast and exciting pace of play. Much of basketball can easily be practiced like shooting or dribbling. When you play basketball, the brain will release feel good hormones which will make playing basketball a positively addictive sport. Sometimes basketball can help build self confidence and increase overall self esteem, also helps reduce stress. Basketball, like many other sports, has a learning side to it. After putting in several hours of hard work and effort into learning and practicing the sport will you lead you to bigger things in life.
