The K5 was introduced in 2021 as a midsize sedan. The K5 took the Kia Optima’s place. The newest version of the K5 is the 2024 model. The K5 has a couple different models out. The LXS FWD at $25,390, the GT-Line FWD at $26,890, the GT-Line AWD at $28,490, the EX at $29,290, and the GT at $31,790. All configurations except the GT have a 1.6L 4-Cylinder turbocharged engine with 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The GT has a 2.5L 4-Cylinder turbocharged engine with 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. The GT-Line and the GT have very unique body styling compared to the others. In these models, it changes both the front and back bumpers, as well as interior features.
The Kia K5 is a very popular car as it sells very well. Since coming out in 2021, the K5 has sold 187,097 cars. Cars.usnews.com named the K5 the “2023 Best Midsize Car for the Money.” According to their article they did this because they claim it has the best combination of quality and value. SMHS senior Alyssa Brooker says, “The K5 is my favorite car because it is very fun to ride in.” She also adds to that by saying the K5 is, “a very pretty car.”
