When I went to the movie theater to watch the Barbie movie I was very excited. At first when you hear the word “Barbie” you think its gonna be really girly and kinda childish. I personally think that it was a very life experiencing movie. Some people loved it while others think it’s a man hated movie, I think otherwise. The plot can be confusing, this movie shows how Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie land. However, when they get the chance to go to the real world, they eventually discover the emotions that live among humans.
One important message it saying is that no woman should let a man define you and who you are. Barbie land is what our childhood felt like; were safe, naive, independent and everything seemed so perfect. The real world is what womanhood feels like scary and so much more, there’s pain and we are faced with so many challenges, while still being held to unrealistic expectations by society. One of the many quotes that have caught my eye and really made me feel something is the quote from Ruth “humans only have one ending. Ideas live forever”.
Unfortunately, many believe that Barbie caused what has became known as the Barbie effect, influencing how young girls see themselves and their potential. The doll helped shape young girls body image (how a persons sees themselves and their appearance). I definitely rate this movie a 10/10.
