The original Retro Bowl came out in January 2020. This game was an immediate hit as it tried to base it off of the popular 1987 game, Tecmo Bowl. In Retro bowl, you become a head coach of a team and run it to the best of your ability. It is a 2D style mobile football game. Retro Bowl was the number one downloaded app in Apple’s App Store in late 2021. It seemed as if everywhere I went someone was playing it, as well as me.
In September of 2023, the developers of Retro Bowl released Retro Bowl College. This was something that was a surprise to everyone, but is very well loved already. On the NFL version there is much less to participate in. In RBC (Retro Bowl College) one feature that you see when you start is that you get job offers. You can’t pick any team you want, only that you are offered to. But the more successful you are over the years the more job opportunities arise. There is also recruiting in RBC and theres only so much scholarship money you are given. Your players can declare for the draft after their junior year or stay for their senior. There are many different opportunities for bowl games as well as a full College Football Playoff. Overall, with all the new features added to the new Retro Bowl game, it is a massive improvement from the first. I’m excited to see how the game looks in a few months as it is updated and as I play it more. Overall, I would rate it a 10/10.
