“You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” is about a teenage girl preparing for her Bat Mitzvah with her friends. She has a falling out with her best friend Lydia over a boy. This is the same boy that Ronnie (the main character) has liked for years. She is so mad at her friend that she makes a terrible video about her for her Bat Mitzvah. They are silently fighting up until it’s time for Lydias party. Then Ronnie realizes that the very embarrassing video of her friend is about to play.
The video is filled with embarrassing videos of Lydia and this continues playing in front of the whole school and her entire family. The video ends with the word best friends being marked out. Lydia then runs out ashamed. In the end Ronnie makes it up to her by giving up her Bat Mitzvah and giving Lydias Bat Mitzvah a redo.
I watched this about a week ago on Netflix. Its definitely in the drama and comedy division. You grow attached to the characters I personality felt bad for Lydia and even for Ronnie. The acting in this is great and it even features Adam Sandler. The events were very believable because its about teen kids and the events really could’ve happened.
The special effects during their Bat Mitzvahs are great it really shows how they go all out for these parties. A show that is similar to this one would be “Never Have I Ever” also on Netflix. I learned while watching this to never let a boy get between you and your best friend because friends are forever.
I would definitely recommend this show to teen girls for a night in, feel good movie. I give this a 8.5 out of ten because it was a little too young for me but I still thought it was really cute.
