“Barbie” is the most recent movie I have watched. “Barbie” is a comedy and is presented as a children’s film, even though many young and older adults bought a ticket. It stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, so the acting was really good. This movie is about the Barbie and Ken dolls that live in Barbie Land, where everything is perfect, until it isn’t. Stereotypical Barbie and Beach Ken have to venture off into the real world to fix any imperfections.
Once there, they interact with humans and find out the real world is not perfect like Barbie Land. Beach Ken brings these characteristics of the real world back to Barbie Land, and all the Barbies have to restore order. During this, Stereotypical Barbie is going through an existential crisis. She embarks on a self-discovery journey and at the end of the movie she chooses to stay in the real world for good.
The plot can be confusing at times, because so much is going on at once. You develop a connection with Stereotypical Barbie throughout the movie as she becomes relatable. She falls from being the perfect “stereotypic” girl. It makes you feel for her.
I would recommend this movie to anyone, but especially to women of any age. This is because it has a women empowerment and feminist tone to it. I enjoyed it and would rate it a 9/10.
