The St. Marys golf team travelled to the Golf Club of West Virginia in Waverly to compete against hosting Williamstown, Doddridge, Roane County and Ritchie County in their match on Monday August 28.
St. Mary’s golfer Preston Lawhon finished medalist with a round of two over par 38. Following him, are senior Cole Darnold with a 40 and junior Trent Renner with a 42. The remainder of the St. Mary’s golf teams shot scores of a 44 by Tripp Morrison, a 45 by Brady Rinard, and a 50 by Wyatt Pinkerton.
Williamstown had a great day of golf and nearly bested St. Mary’s team score of 164; the Blue Devils edged them by a mere four strokes in the match. Other team scores include Williamstown: 168, Doddridge: 187, Roane County: 207, Ritchie County: 216.
Future matches include: Championship at Mingo Bottom on September 18, Girls Only at St. Marys Golf Club on Sept. 20, Senior Night at St. Marys Golf Club on Sept. 21, Region 1 Championship at Mingo Bottom Golf Club on Sept. 25, and the State Championship at Oglebay Resort on October 3-4.
