Homecoming Recap
Homecoming week here at SMHS has come to a close. Spirit Week began on Monday, Oct. 3 with the theme of “Color Wars;” each class had different colors to wear for the day. The senior class was orange, the junior class was green, the sophomore class were blue, and the freshman class were purple. Later in the school day staff, students, and community members went up to Bill Hanlin stadium to watch the powderpuff games. The Juniors overcame the Seniors with a score of 20 to 16.
Also on Monday, began the floatbuilding competition, the classes placed as follows: 1st- juniors, 2nd- sophomores, 3rd- freshmen and 4th- seniors.
Tuesday was “Holiday Day,” Wednesday was “We wear pink on Wednesdays,” Thursday was “Soccer Moms vs BBQ Dads,” and Friday was “Anything B ut a Backpack Day”.
On Friday the student body gathered in the gym, excited to participate in the annual pep rally. The belle candidates were introduced, and Braden Hashman was crowned Mr. Sexy Legs.
Later that evening Blue Devil fans lined Main street to watch the homecoming parade. During halftime of the football game, Kamryn Armstrong was crowned the 69th Belle of St. Marys. The Devils overcame the Wirt County Tigers with a score of 43 to 6.
