Ever since I started getting into art, I always wanted to be a tattoo artist. Currently, I’m making this dream a reality by taking steps to become a tattoo artist such as creating a portfolio of my art work, and practicing on fake skin. Now, many professions you have to go to some type of schooling for but becoming a tattoo artist is a little different.
The first step is getting to know yourself and your art style. You should start trying to draw and other forms of art just to have an idea of what you’re capable of so you can build from it. If you really want to get better at art you could always go to art school. Although it is not required, it will give you a more well rounded art form and style. A portfolio is one of the most important parts of becoming a tattoo artist. Not only does this give you a reference to build your own but it also shows the shop you desire to work at your art capabilities.
Next, you should look for an apprenticeship at a local tattoo parlor, this shows you the steps and methods to becoming a successful tattoo artist. Next, you must find the stated requirements for tattoo artist and once you meet those requirements all you have to do is go get your license, then you can call yourself a licensed tattoo artist.
