With recent events of the national capital being stormed by protesters in Washington DC. There has been a fear by FBI officials that an incident may occur during the inauguration of the new president Joe Biden. So, there is going to be about 25,000 guardsmen being flown into DC from all across the country for this event. The FBI is also doing a screening of every soldier to make sure they have no prior experience in being a part of a terrorist organization as well as a background check to make sure the soldiers that are protecting the president will be loyal. There will be at least 2 and a half times the number of soldiers in previous inaugurations.

The Secret Service is in charge of the event security, but there will be a wide variety of military and law enforcement personnel involved. Which includes the U.S. Park Police, U.S. Capitol Police, FBI, and the National Guard. The bulk of the Guard members will be armed. The key goal of this whole operation is for America’s transfer of power to happen without incident. The main purpose of this event is to show everyone in the United States and the rest of the world that we can provide safely and have a secure military.

The people of the United States have gone through such a heavy year with the Covid-19 pandemic, the events of George Floyd, one of the most equal presidential races that have split the country in two and soon after that there were citizens that stormed the capital building. With all this tension building up I’m not surprised that there will be a huge number of soldiers that’ll help the transition of power go smoothly. I believe the inauguration and everything that has happened this year will leave a mark in history forever.
