What’s Going On In March?
March is filled with holidays to celebrate and events to attend! The 31 day month is the third month of 2020.
February 26 – March 6 : Don’t forget about the BackYard Brawl! Buckets are located outside of the office to be filled with coins and money. The class to collect the largest amount of money will receive an ice cream party.
March 8 : At 2 a.m. the clock will spring forward an hour for Daylight Savings. Saturday/Sunday morning you will lose an hour of sleep, so go to bed early! Daylight Savings was created for us to have longer hours of daylight in the summer months for the benefit of using less electricity.
March 11-14 : The WVSSAC Girls State Basketball Tournament for 2020 will begin on Wednesday March 11 and the championship games will be held on Saturday, March 14. The Lady Devils will be taking a trip to Charleston on Thursday morning! The events are held in the Charleston Coliseum.
March 13 : Friday the 13th! The first Friday the 13th of 2020 falls in March. A superstition was created that Friday the 13th was an unlucky day.
March 14: National Pi Day! Pi day falls on March 14 every year for the repeating number, pi, which is 3.14. Pi Day was founded in 1988 by Physicist Larry Shaw.
March 17: St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on a Tuesday this year. This Irish holiday was created to celebrate St. Patrick, who brought Christianity to Ireland in the fifth century.
March 18-21: The WVSSAC Boys State Basketball Tournament for 2020 will begin on Wednesday March 18t and the championship games will be held on Saturday March 21. Hopefully the Blue Devils will be taking a trip to Charleston! The events are held in the Charleston Coliseum.
March 20: International Earth Day is a great day to remind us how to properly care for our Earth. This holiday is also referred to as Sun-Earth Day.
